How it works

From first conversation to confirmed engagement.

Every step is written down before it happens — including what happens if the engagement does not proceed. This page is the whole process, in the order you will experience it.

You submit a request

Describe the programme and the gap. A cutover you are short-handed for, a workstream without an owner, a design decision that needs a second opinion. No account required to start.

We talk

Scope, timing, the shape of the programme, and whether the network actually holds the right person. If it does not, we say so in the first conversation rather than the third.

Your account is completed and validated

Individuals and companies onboard differently. Being in the community and being a qualified customer are separate states, and a single contact does not by itself bind a company. This step protects both sides.

Written scope, confirmed order

Deliverables, boundaries, and the definition of done, agreed before anyone starts. Nothing is billable until this exists.

Deposit confirms the engagement

Where a deposit applies, funds are captured by the payment processor and stay there until settlement. They never sit in Talent Moderne's accounts.

Delivery, settlement, closeout

The work runs against the written scope and closes against it. If an engagement is paused or not pursued, you receive a reason and a settlement, on defined terms.

Why there is a gate.

Membership does not make anyone a qualified customer, and a request does not authorise work. Those sound like formalities. They are the two places consulting relationships usually go wrong.

A programme that starts before the scope is written ends in a dispute about what was promised. A contact who commits a company they cannot bind creates an invoice nobody will approve. The gate exists so neither happens to you.

If you run your own practice.

Members are practitioners with their own businesses and their own clients — functional, technical, integration, data, cutover, change. Entry is by referral and review.

Engagements are offered, not bid on. You see enough context to judge fit before you spend an evening on a proposal, and you decline without penalty.

Your network stays yours. Talent Moderne does not publish it, sell access to it, or route your relationships through a bench.

Do you work alongside our existing systems integrator?

Yes. Most engagements sit beside an SI, not in place of one — a specialist workstream, a second opinion on a design decision, or capacity at a peak the plan did not survive contact with.

How fast can you place someone?

It depends on the skill and the timing. We will give you a straight answer in the first conversation, including "not quickly enough" when that is true.

What if the engagement does not proceed?

You receive an approved reason and a settlement on defined terms.

Start with the problem, not the résumé.
